The Builders Guide is designed for owner-builders and licensed builders working with Scandi Cabins and Scandi Homes for the first time. While constructing prefab homes and cabins is a straightforward process with building components conveniently marked, there are specific considerations unique to the system that builders must follow to ensure correct installation and prevent potential issues.
Important:
- Plan your installation during a stretch of dry days to ensure optimal conditions.
- This guide provides an overview only and should be read in conjunction with:
- Project-Specific Drawings: Refer to your project’s documentation.
- Drawings of building components made in EU: A hard copy of building components made in EU is included in your kit.
- Owner’s Manual: Includes the Construction Guide with detailed drawings and additional technical guidance.

Important. After the assembly of building components supplied by Scandi Group is finished, cover your new building structure with the waterproof sheets even it is only for a night. Roofing must be put on as soon as possible to waterproof the building and avoid water damage to the timber.
Post-Installation Care
Once your installation is complete, the structure will naturally settle over the course of a few weeks. To ensure everything remains in top condition, perform two key inspections:
- Check if steel rods became loose. If so, follow the instructions on Adjusting structural tie-down system page.
- Check if windows or doors become difficult to open or close. If so, follow Windows Adjustment Instructions
By following these two essential inspection points, you’ll ensure your timber home continues to function smoothly as it settles, preserving its quality and longevity.
