A Two-Storey Home Extension in Waitati

A young family of four, including two growing boys, found that their existing single-storey, two-bedroom home in Waitati, on New Zealand’s South Island, no longer met their needs. Despite the space limitations, the family was deeply attached to their picturesque rural block and preferred to extend their home rather than relocate. They partnered with Mopanui Studios and Homes, a local builder, who utilized prefabricated home extension from Scandi Group. This collaboration allowed the family to stay within their budget while transforming their modest home into a spacious two-story, five-bedroom residence, perfectly blending functionality with the scenic beauty of their location.

Mooloolah River Landcare community centre

The Mooloolah River Landcare (MRL) organization, central to the community, needed a new centre to accommodate various activities such as workshops and film nights.

MRL management embarked on a visionary project to create a new Community Centre constructed with eco-friendly materials and built by local trades. After discussions with the reputable local company Classic Kit Homes, they engaged the Scandi Group to design and prefabricate the centre. The construction of the centre was achieved through a seamless process that minimized disruptions, thanks to clear timelines and the rapid assembly of prefab mass timber construction.

The new centre is equipped with double-glazed windows and 80mm glue-laminated timber (GLT) walls, renowned for their superior insulation. Strategically elevated to address local flooding issues, the building was completed with a significant focus on accessibility and minimal environmental impact.
